How to Design a 120 TPH Tantalum-Niobium Ore Processing Plant?

The Core Design Philosophy: Crush & Grind First, Gravity Second, Magnetic Last

Tantalum-niobium ores often have complex mineral compositions and low grades. To maximize recovery and concentrate grade, a scientifically designed flow sheet is essential. Therefore, when designing this 120 TPH tantalum-niobium ore production line, our engineers focused on one core philosophy: “Crushing & Grinding First, Gravity Second, Magnetic Last.”

Simply put, the early crushing and grinding stages are designed to perfectly control the particle size and liberate the valuable minerals. Subsequently, the gravity and magnetic separation stages work together to purify the tantalum-niobium step by step.

Step-by-Step Processing Flow

01 Feeding & Crushing: Controlling the Feed Size
First of all, a vibrating feeder is used to stabilize the feeding rate. Then, the material goes through a two-stage crushing process. A Coarse Jaw Crusher reduces the large rocks, and a Fine Jaw Crusher controls the output size. This low crushing ratio ensures a uniform particle size, which is crucial for the next stage.

02 Screening & Grinding: Closed-Circuit Liberation
A dual-layer Vibrating Screen separates the qualified materials from the coarse ones. The coarse material is returned to the fine crusher, while the qualified material enters the Ball Mill. The mill works in a closed circuit with a Spiral Classifier, ensuring that unqualified particles are returned for further grinding, achieving complete mineral liberation.

03 Gravity Enrichment: Spiral Sluice & Shaking Table
Once ground, the slurry enters a Spiral Chute for roughing. This step uses gravity to initially concentrate the valuable heavy minerals and recover low-grade tantalite and niobium. Then, the concentrate goes to a Shaking Table to further improve the concentrate grade. This equipment is highly efficient and easy to operate.

04 Magnetic Purification: The Final Step
Finally, the concentrate from the shaking table is fed directly into a Three-Disk Magnetic Separator. By utilizing the magnetic differences of the minerals, this step performs the final separation and purification, ensuring a step-by-step recovery of weakly magnetic minerals and maximizing the final product recovery rate.
